What information is required to open an account with Tradesk?
When you apply for an account with Tradesk, we’re required by U.S. laws and regulations to collect certain information to verify your identity. This helps keep your account secure and ensures we stay compliant with regulatory standards.
To get started, you’ll need to provide:
• Your full name
• Your legal U.S. address
• Date of birth
• A valid Social Security Number
• Phone number
• Citizenship status (Note: Currently Tradesk is only able to open accounts for U.S. citizens and legal US residents)
• Other basic identifying details such as financial and employment information
We may also request a copy of a valid, government-issued photo ID—like a driver’s license or passport—if we need to further confirm your identity.
Please note: You must be at least 18 years old to open an account with Tradesk.
How long does it take for my account to be approved?
Once you’ve submitted your account opening application, our team will review it within the following 1-2 business days. As soon as your application is approved, you’ll receive an email confirming you’re ready for next steps —so keep an eye on your inbox!
In some cases, the review process may take a bit longer due to additional information needed. If we need some further documents, our team will reach out to you via email with instructions.
Common reasons for delays can include:
• SSN or tax identification discrepancies
• A mismatch in your date of birth, legal name, or address
We’re required to collect and verify this information to remain compliant with federal, FINRA, and SEC regulations.
Thanks for your patience - we’re excited to get you started with Tradesk!
Why do I need to submit personal information to open a brokerage account?
Before you can start trading with Tradesk, we need to collect some personal information to proceed. As a registered broker-dealer, we’re required by federal law, as well as by regulatory organizations like the SEC and FINRA, to follow strict identity verification procedures. These rules help protect everyone by preventing fraud, stopping financial crime, and keeping markets safe and secure.
We follow the guidelines set by the USA PATRIOT Act and other regulations to ensure we meet our "Know Your Customer" (KYC) obligations. That means we must verify the identity of anyone opening an account, maintain records of that information, and check whether individuals appear on any government lists related to terrorism or financial crime.
Will applying for a brokerage account with Tradesk affect my credit history/score?
Applying for an account with us will not affect your credit score in any way. Although a new account application will require certain identity verification steps, we do not run a credit check.
Can I use my PO box address as my address for my brokerage account?
PO boxes can only be used for your mailing address. You need to provide a physical address for the home and/or company address listed on your brokerage account.

Is my brokerage account insured and protected?
Tradesk Securities, Inc. is a member of SIPC, which, if the broker-dealer were to go bankrupt, protects against the loss of client securities up to a total of $500,000 ($250,000 may be in cash) per client in each separate capacity.
Our clearing firm, Velox Clearing, has purchased an additional insurance policy. This additional insurance policy becomes available to customers in the event that SIPC limits are exhausted and provides protection for securities and cash up to certain limits. Similar to SIPC protection, this additional insurance does not protect against a loss in the market value of securities.
